The “Falchi”, even before becoming a sports club, are basically a group of friends with a passion for the mountains and running. This is the thread that until now links the history of our group and that has allowed over the years an increase in the number of athletes and the achievement of increasingly better performance both individual and team.
The roots of the Falchi date back to the late 1990s. In 1998 the “unhealthy” idea of Carletto Ratti, Paganoni and Tavola was born: why not do the legendary Monza-Resegone? So, almost as a game, the three finish this gruelling race.
Carletto and Paga, founders of the GAM (Gruppo Alpinistico Maggianichese), were already enjoying mountain running competitions and are a spur for other future “athletes”: Maurino Esposito and Ricky Ghislanzoni.
The small group of “loose dogs” begins to be noticed thanks to the good performances of a very young and scalped Carlo Ratti.
Mr. Corno Marco, president of the homonymous association of Lecco, recruits these young levers full of enthusiasm and after the Monza-Resegone, away with mountain races and skyraces (1999: Giir di Mont just under 6 hours, but how many laughs!). Meanwhile the group grows: Lele Gaddi, Loris Ragni, Claudio Pizzagalli, Silvietto Gatti, Brunetto D’Ambrosio, Enry Ardesi. The “marriage” with the GSA Corno Marco Italia lasted until 2001 and after a series of misunderstandings here is the split: the “crazy splinter” took shape and here in April 2001 was officially born in Mandello del Lario (LC) the Associazione Sportiva Falchi thanks to the decisive impulse of Brunetto.
The group is already in the spotlight from the first races: both for the good results obtained and for the goliarism and joy with which it faces the races and especially the post-race. This is perhaps also the reason why new athletes approach the Falcons and then end up sharing with us the passion for this tiring sport.
Over the years the group of friends expands: Davide Trinca and Annalisa Ongania, Dr. Cappello, Clan Brianza (Giampy Crippa, Gessy Maggioni, Ale Filigura), Kino Arrigoni Neri, Chicco Bartesaghi, Matteo Ape. Meanwhile, the multiple champion of mountain running, Tita Lizzoli, becomes President of the Association and Taddeo Bertoldini takes his first steps in skyrunning following the Falchi.
2006 is a key year for the Falchi. Many new athletes: brothers Franz and Nino Simonetta, Luca Mauri, Enry Mazzoleni, Paolino Dell’Orto and Coltelli. The new president. The new headquarters, even if temporary, in Lecco and the new company name: Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Falchi Lecco – ASD Falchi Lecco. The first contact with the sponsor that will soon become the official one, the Kapriol of Lecco [Link]. The Falcons become on-line: the website (www.asfalchi.it) is born with race reports, photos, guestbook and much more.
In 2007 arrives, in addition to many victories and new uniforms, the new and much desired headquarters. The Falchi, thanks to the fundamental help of Adelfio and the goodness of Mr. Morganti, set up a beautiful restaurant in Bonacina in Lecco.
For the Falcons on Thursday evening is the ritual appointment where you meet from the legendary Boles and we talk about races and more. The new venue is, however, an important and welcoming meeting place for the most “serious” meetings, essential for planning with more peace of mind the new projects.
The year 2008 begins with the inclusion of 5 new highly motivated athletes: Angela Buratti, Marco “Castel” Castelnuovo, Fabiano Cipriani, Stefano Colombo and Luca Ripamonti.
Unfortunately, on September 23rd our beloved Adelfio disappeared and had to give in to an implacable illness.
In 2009 Roberto Antonelli returns and Marco “Lo Zio” Terraneo joins the team, who will be one of the main contributors to the creation of the Almanacco dei Falchi, the yearbook with the photos and stories of the season.
In 2010 three new athletes (Fabio Bartoloni, Sergio Bernasconi and Carlo Proserpio) joined the team as they leave the Falchi Fabiano Cipriani and Davide Trincavelli.
On April 25th the first edition of the “Adelfio Spreafico a.m. Trophy” will take place, in memory of the great Adelfio. The race, from Versasio to Piani d’Erna, sees almost 200 athletes at the start.
In 2011 the Falcons will be 10 years old! Here is the return of Trinca and the entrance of Yarj Alan Consoli, Fabrizio Farumi and Nicola Spreafico. Try the adventure with a new group Marco Castelnuovo.
In 2012 the group sees the entry of many new athletes: Paolo Beria, Taddeo Bertoldini, Cine Corti, Vito Gallo, Davide Ghislanzoni, Emanuele Gianola, Andrea Grilli, Giordano Montanari, Francesca Nava and Giovanni Tavola. Stefano Colombo leaves the Falchi. The group thus becomes 44 athletes.
With the values of friendship and loyalty, with the inclination to joke and joy, with the commitment, with the strong motivation and the desire to establish themselves and confirm themselves as a solid sports reality in the province of Lecco and beyond, the Falcons aim to continue to grow and fly high, very high!
